Nice Days Series, 2013-16
Beeswax and Natural Dyes (grown by the artist) on peace silk

Sculptures in the Nice Days series mimic plastic bags. While their forms emerge from a culture of convenience and disposability, their materials center slower relationships of cultivation and care. As a form of resistance to the alienation of consumer culture, I grew the dyes for this project in a community garden which fostered collaboration between people and nature.
